A Simple Lesson in breaking free and finding true happiness

summerfield-336672_640Happy Fourth of July!

With the holiday upon us, I’ve been thinking a lot about the word freedom and how that term can mean so many different things to each of us.

In particular, I have been contemplating the kind of freedom that comes from within and how that defines us.

What is this element that allows us to evolve and become more compassionate human beings?  What does it take for each of us to reach the open road lined with possibilities?

Just a year ago I broke up with my boyfriend of ten years and I sadly bemoaned my situation. It seemed everything in my life was going wrong. I believed the “horrible roommate” in my head that told me I wasn’t good enough. I would never be good enough.

But with the passage of time I realized my Ex had given me a great gift.

He’d set me free.

I believe the negative events that we all face are there to teach us a lesson. There is always an inner magic at play if we allow ourselves to accept the inevitable and flow with the currents of life.

Eckhart Tolle says that often times it is when your suffering has reached its peak that you begin to emerge out of the ego and into the beautiful opening of the now.

I was no longer shackled down with negativity, there was no more fighting, and I had the time to really focus on what made me shine. My love for life expanded and I became more passionate, and more determined than ever to turn my dreams into reality.

When one vision ended, I found there was an even better, brighter future just waiting to be explored.

And that is true for all of us.

That being said I fired my roommate, hired a new CEO for my life and started on the road to liberation.

I’m here to remind you it’s time to take a stand. No more excuses.

This 4th of July let’s give ourselves the gift of FREEDOM and promise to never give up on ourselves.

You are made strong for doing those things you thought you COULDN’T do, not the things you knew you could do.

Our inner light doesn’t come from our successes. It comes from the dismal dark failures.

My breakup with my boyfriend helped me to grow and evolve and made more me conscious of what I no longer desired in my life.

My true vision was made clear.

Just recently I’ve been implementing the practice of being grateful for EVERYTHING. Not just the things that make me happy, that’s easy, but also the things I don’t necessarily prefer. Because if I look back it was the suffering, that led me to break out from my dark cocoon and emerge a butterfly.

Eckhart TOlle

We have all struggled at one time or another; it is part of life. Do we like it? Of course not. But we can take a step back and give a little compassion to ourselves. We will find that we are better equipped to throw open that next door.

Who’s ready to throw open some doors and let the sun shine in? Are you with me?

What do you guys think? I’d love to hear your own personal experiences. Do you feel it was your darkest moments that empowered you, broke the bonds of your chrysalis, and allowed you to soar free?

Big hugs,

Genevieve XOXO
