The Bird Backlash and Routine Dental Care

Blog #4The neighbors got a birdfeeder.

Yes. I said it. And it’s true. Things at Crownson Castle have reached fever pitch. Majick is mostly an indoor cat but he likes to pretend he lives in the Amazon jungle. Every once in awhile he’s allowed to play outside (within the confines of the fenced backyard); however with the added addition of the bird feeder, there was a breach in security.

The other day the birds were happily perched on the feeder having their lunch, unaware that behind the wood slats of the fence, a pair of glittering gold eyes with razor vision were honed in on them. To make it worse they then flew to the connecting fence we share with the neighbors, and being all bird like, began to sing and chirp. Well this was just too much for Majick to bear, and he hatched up an escape plan. Not being the most nimble of cats, and also carrying a bit much around his middle (to put it nicely he has a sizeable mouse pouch), he had to come up with a clever way to trap the little darlings. (I’m sorry I’m not painting a pretty picture but the truth has to be told). To get to the point, Majick used several props to get to the top of the fence which included the compost box and a fence support beam. Needless to say he did it. And this was when things deteriorated.

The day before Mom had been to the dentist for a routine crown to be put on her tooth, but due to complications, they were unable to do it. Basically, they couldn’t get her mouth to stop bleeding, so they stopped the blood, sent her home and rescheduled the procedure. The only problem was she woke up the next morning and had blood everywhere. She was a very believable vampire. I rushed her back, and they patched her up with some stitches and all was well, but she was to take it easy.

So I left for work, thinking everything was okay. Silly me. Several hours later Majick was spotted walking the fence. Mom flew down the stairs, raced across the yard and reached up to pull him off the fence grabbing tail and paws, whatever she could get her hands on. She was worried he would escape and harm himself or others (aka birds). I was not there for this event but I am pretty sure it involved a lot of howling and swearing on Majicks part.

So much for taking it easy. Luckily no damage was done.

To be fair we knew what we were getting into, Majick is not the first feline we Crownson’s have adopted, there has been a long line of cat predecessors, who have shown equally carnivorous traits.

Has your cat ever been in a spot of trouble? I would love to hear about it!

Love Always,
Genevieve XOXO

Awwww! I’m so sorry for your mom, I hope her second appointment with the dentist went better than the first! And Majick sounds like a character 🙂 Luckily he didn’t get to the birds!
